Hands-On Herbalism
Come explore the beauty, art, and science of
herbal medicine.
This workshop will be a fun, free-spirited,
and informative discussion of this natural and holistic system of
healing. Taking a wider view, we'll explore plant medicines from spiritual,
energetic, and scientific perspectives. In addition,
students will learn how to ethically collect, grow, and prepare
their own herbal medicines, and use them to increase vitality,
prevent disease, and treat simple ailments. We'll also cover
Holistic Definitions of Health and Disease: Tongue, Face, and Pulse
Diagnosis; Ayurvedic Constitutional Types; Western, Indian, and Chinese
Herbs; Designing Herbal Formulas; Growing an Herbal Garden Sanctuary
... We'll go on an Herb Walk in Mendon Ponds Park, and Learn Hands-On
Tea and Tincture Making.
Instructor: E. Khumpani O'Hara,
graduate of the Northeast School of Botanical Medicine, and The Ayurvedic
Institute, and former apprentice to the respected Rochester Herbalist--Sonam
Targee.
Location: Natural Oasis Wellness
Center: 288 Monroe Ave., Rochester (near Alexander).
Dates: Five Wednesdays. October
5, 12, 19, 26, and November 2nd, 7-9 p.m. The Herb Walk will be held
on Sunday October 16th, 10 a.m.-12 p.m.
Cost: $65 for entire course.
